Are there any benchmarks - formally or anecdotal on the MBP 14 M1 MAX 24c vs 32c?

Anyone here with a 14 24c care to chime in anecdotally?

I have a 14" 32GB/M1 Max 24c coming and all these battery discussions are getting me a little uneasy.

I have a MBP 14 MAX 24c GPU. Battery has been pretty good so far. During the day while performing work related tasks, I see the battery drain 10% every 1.5 hours or so. That's with screen brightness at halfway and multiple apps running at the same time (Safari, Chrome, Mail, Discord, Twitter, Messages, Spotify, Podcasts). Things like zoom calls will, of course, cause your battery to drain faster than when using the apps I mentioned but I'd say it's a fair assumption this battery can get the 11 hours Apple claims. Really all depends on what you're doing on the machine.

@d3fn I did not use low power mode. Just to make sure I don't end up with the wrong machine, I ordered a 14 inch M1 Pro w/ 16 core GPU & 16 GB of RAM. Will be testing and comparing over the coming days to decided which I want. If there isn't a substantial difference in battery (more than 1 hour) between the two, I'll probably just end up keep the 14 inch M1 Max with 24 core GPU & 32 GB RAM. We'll see!

@d3fn So my results were pretty consistent when running the same applications at the same time. The M1 Pro consistently showed an extra 2 hours of battery life compared to the M1 Max. The M1 Max also had a consistently higher power draw as well in terms of wattage so the difference in battery life makes sense.

All I did was charge both to full, put on the same documentary on YouTube, and let both run for an hour at half brightness. The M1 Max definitely used more battery and I'd say the M1 Pro could probably pull off 12 hours of battery whereas the M1 Max is likely to be in the 10-11 hour range.

Still conflicted on which to keep!

The way I decided it was simple:

"Am I actually gonna use the laptop for longer than 10 hours without charging?"

For me the answer was: probably not unless I'm on a long flight, even then I'm gonna have a power socket.

I do hope that live-streaming + emulator/simulator + code editor + driving a 4k display is going to be steady due to the extra GPU cores for encoding.
