is there a battery case with lightning input? I'm speaking of lightning to charge the actual case. We have many more lightning cables around the house and particularly in the car. I'd like to just be able to charge the case with the same cable that charges the phones.

I think he's referring to an actual case rather than a power bank. The Apple battery case is the only one I can think of that charges via Lightning instead of the usual micro-USB.

The powerbear battery case on Amazon is a good one. I bought one last month and gave up my mophie to a friend. 7800 mah battery pack for $35 before taxes and uses the lightning cable, plus it has a built in kickstand, you can't really go wrong. I've had it for a couple weeks now and it's the best case I've had on a phone yet. I think it's worth the price.

Appreciate the tip. I think I came across this the other day but couldn't figure out if these mfi certified. At the price, I think likely not.

All this talk about the Samsung recall fiasco has got me thinking...generally speaking, how safe are these external battery cases and packs? I know we're talking about a vast variety of devices from a wide array of sources and manufacturers, and that it's impossible to give a blanket assessment of safety across the board, but I'm curious about what you guys are all thinking about these kinds of devices in light of all the recent news. Maybe this is too broad a question, idk. I am someone who knows extremely little about how mobile device batteries work, so I admit could be asking a completely ridiculous question
