Hi Everyone,

I am new to the macbook world.

I recently bought a mid-2011 MBA 11" from an older lady off craigslist. It came with original box and in perfect condition. Comes with 2 gig ram and 1.5 i5 processor and when turned on, it had Lion OS. She said she barely used it. Got it for $350 - good price?

I recently updated to Yosemite and it works flawlessly.

My question is this: What is the typical battery cycle count before the battery goes bad? Currently, i checked and it states a count of 76 and status normal.

Also, when reformatting a MBA, does the battery cycle count reset? Thanks!

No, reformatting a drive has nothing to do with the battery cycle count. The cycle count represents the number of times the battery has been discharged and recharged. See the WHAT IS A CYCLE? section of the following link for details.

Run on battery whenever you need to and plug it in whenever you can. You can plug or unplug any time you need to, regardless of the charged percentage, and you never need to completely drain your battery.
The link below should answer most, if not all, of your battery/charging questions, including tips for maximizing battery performance. If you haven’t already done so, I highly recommend you take the time to read it.

The battery count dosnt reset.

76 cycles is good for the age.

1000 cycles is what apple says for the battery to continue to hold +80% of its capacity

I'd say you got a very good deal. I just picked up a mid-2011 MBA 13" with a battery count of 45 for $500 and thought I did pretty well. Battery counts below 100 on mid-2011 machines aren't common.

That being said, I'll probably be selling this Air and looking for an 11".
