i've just been told by apple that when my ibook battery reached 300 cycles, it no longer counts a cycle as being a complete discharge and recharge but any recharge whether for a minute or much longer.

does this sound right?

im not quite understanding what youve written but i think your talking about the capacity of the battery after 800 cycles? have a look here under "Battery Lifespan" 🙂

what i mean is this - i've understood a battery cycle to be a full discharge of the battery followed by a full recharge. i thought that when this full discharge and recharge happens the amount of battery cycles listed in system profiler increases by one.

but i've been told by apple today that this only applies up until 300 cycles. thereafter, even if you only deplete your battery by 5% and then recharge it this will count as a full battery cycle. this seems unlikely to me.

so, i wondered if anyone else could confirm or otherwise what apple told me.
