Is there an optimum level to which I should allow the battery to deplete before recharging? Does that level change over time?

According to battery research, 20 - 80% is the optimal range of use. Let it discharge to 20% before charging to 100%. Keep it on 100% for an hour, and then keep it in the 80% range when possible.

Actually, a smaller range is ideal as far as pure battery longevity. Alas, it's not very practical. 20-80% is a good middle ground.

Don't worry too much about battery. But keeping it between 20 to 80% is best. Keep it for charging when the battery hits 20% and charge all the way up to 100%
