I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max. The battery life on this phone has been insanely good. But since iOS 13.4.x came out, it’s become more like the iPhones of old, where it’s good, but I still often have to top it up during the day, which until iOS 13.4, I never had to. Battery Maximum Capacity is at 95%, which I also think is low considering the phone is only 7 months old. But I’m relatively new to iPhone. So perhaps that part is just my ignorance. Anyone else seen a degradation with iOS 13.4+?

95% after 7 months seems normal. A typical li-ion Battery is designed to retain up to 80% of it‘s capacity after 500 charging cycles. So, if your battery goes from 100% to 0% every day, you can expect to have 80% of battery after 1 year and 4 months. My iPhone 8 (bought in November ‘18) still has 87% capacity. so, when it lasted for a whole day, e.g. 16h before, it will now only last 15,2h at 95% capacity. One way to extend your battery life is to always keep your iphone between 20% and 80% charged. When you‘ve enabled „optimised battery charging“ in the battery settings, your iphone only charges to 80% overnight and then tops off the remaining 20% before you get up in the morning (provided you got a regular-repeating life rhytm, which I don‘t). Another thing I‘ver heard is that wireless charging may reduce your iphone‘s battery life. but you should probably avoid that anyway because it‘s a waste of energy.

I haven‘t noticed any degradation with iOS 13.4 but my devices (iphone 8, ipad air 3) always got mediocre battery life at best. no comparison to the 1st gen ipad or an iphone 4.

95% after 7 months for a brand new iPhone is rare.

My iPhone 11 Pro is roughly 6 months old. Now at 104%. New it was around 103%. So mostly the same from a health perspective.

IMO iPhones usually are at 99/100% after 6-10 months or so. After that they drop a bit quick. Like 1% every month or so.

Anyway, your main issue seems software related. It the same for me as well. iOS 13.5 has reduced my runtimes for my iPhones and multiple iPad Pros by >25% with no change in health.

I’ve never seen the Battery Health indicator show anything above 100%.

I have noticed an issue seemingly introduced in iOS/iPadOS 13.5 whereby certain apps are performing nonstop background activity. This can be seen in the Battery Activity screen. For me, it was the same apps across two iPhones and an iPad. I had some luck deleting the affected apps, restarting, reinstalling the apps, and resetting Privacy and Location. However, a couple of apps remain constantly active. There are reports in this forum and on Apple Discussions. I encourage you to report the issue to Apple with Bug Reporter.
