I just got my phone a week ago and was taking tons of photos and 4K video... for about 9-9 1/2 hours before the battery was at 25-28% left.
Oh and I only had it around 55-65% brightness.
Does the camera app use a ton of energy?
I just never payed attention with past phones *then again, I also never did nonstop photos for 9hrs, lol... and Shot about 3-5 minutes of 4k video at the time too.

Kallum.

Mine has had a drain overall. Others are reporting a phenomenal daily result. I’ve had overheating issues here and there for simple tasks. I don’t think iOS 13 is stable enough for an iPhone to operate properly. iOS 13.1 beta 4 worked better for me and for some reason it popped up as a software update on my phone so I did that last night... a downgrade OTA... quite strange that it even worked.

So far so good on beta 4. No overheating issues noticed. But after a few days will know for sure. My Apple Watch was also having a battery drain issue. About 5% per hour. Had to update it to 6.1 beta and so far so good with that as well. iOS 13 overall is a mess for most.

Video recording and camera use uses a lot of battery; always has been the case.

Correct but the problem is simple tasks even make the phone become rather hot. For me, using the camera doesn’t heat up my phone. It’s certain tasks and it happen when it wants to. Same thing happened to my X but only once or twice since upgrading to 13.1.

In Settings, check the Battery. Have a look at what apps are running and by how much/long.
I had an issue where my iPhone 11 Pro Max was using a drastic amount of power. Checking the Battery I found it was one particular App that had been running constantly in the background despite not being an App I had loaded and left running. The only way to stop it running was to delete it.

This thread title sort of implies that you have a problem with battery drain on your iPhone. But you had your screen on almost non-stop for almost 10 hours and you also had your cameras turned on during that time and you took photos and videos and probably maxed out the processor, RAM and SSD while taking 4K videos and you probably looked back on these photos and videos in the photos app. I think this thread title should be "Amazing battery life on 11 Pro...." ;)

This sounds a lot like my issue. It was getting so hot I swapped my phone on Monday. The new phone is slightly better but still draining fast. I barely even use it. No major tasks, photos, videos, etc.

Was amazing out of the box then update to iOS 13.1 worsen it now with today’s update to 13.1.1 I think it gets better ?? Still early to tell but I hope

Mine was great out of the box, then on 13.1 battery life took a slight dive but the last update hopefully has restored battery life to what it was originally.

I had 13.1 out the gate, as my XS Max had the beta on it. Had a similar experience to others. Overheating, good battery life but not great, etc.

Hoping that 13.1.1 fixed the issue and will report back :)

You’re correct, my apologies. I wrote it rather late and usually topic “names” are something I’m terrible at. lol.
After talking to myself a bit more (fun crazy discussion with my tech self v my OCD anxiety ridden illogical self) resulted in me realizing just how long I really got from the phone while using it 90% to its fullest potential... so love this phone. I plan to upgrade to the 256GB one as it’s just bloody incredibly. I think I’ve never been happier with my line-up of Apple products. *I found my sweet spot.

iPad Pro 3, 12.9”
iPhone Xr
Apple Watch 0
2011 iMac
Apple TV 4K
HomePod
iPhone Pro (calling itself 11 pro is stupid

everything I could possibly need to do can be completed now. Photos have never looked better and if I want to edit some, the iPad Pro 3 is the best iPad ever and honestly the best computer I’ve ever seen.
I have the Xr for a backup and for using mobile apps that iPad can’t do. I use my iMac for 1-2 things my iPad Pro can’t just yet. I am excited to see what they will do next with the iPhone Pro (s) and the next iPad Pro, but right now... it’s all amazing
