Hi everyone,

exactly the same problem here, even my log looks identical - the rMBP wakes up roundabout every 15 minutes. Having a brand new rMBP 15 mid 2015 with factory install of 10.10.3 (no migration or time machine recovery). I closed all applications (i.e. Safari, Mail, etc).

As I am having a rMBP this issue seems not to be hardware-specific.

Only way to prevent the permanent wake ups is to disabled WiFi.

Hoping for a fix or solution...

Best regards,
Stephan

observed the same problem on 10.10.3 on the new macbook. When I check /var/log/system.log I saw a bunch of these errors. Searching on google only return 1 post regarding this issue, but no solution.

Anyone can try to open terminal and run

cat /var/log/system.log | grep -i "wake reason"

and that should show you why your battery is draining.......

Close to 3 days standby (full charge), 93%battery remaining, no wakeups
Code:
Raven-12:~ Raven$ cat /var/log/system.log | grep -i "wake reason"

you have wifi turn on , and wifi connection is available where your macbook locate?

I'm tired of the battery life and am taking it to the Apple Store genius bar tomorrow to get it checked.
93% health in 20 cycles.

I run my RMB exclusively in Windows and for the past month always put the machine in Airplane Mode and Sleep to avoid this problem to no avail.

Today I switched from Sleep to Hibernate and we'll see if that solves this.

Could you check what your battery draining is when rMB is completely powered off (no sleep mode)?
My rMB loses 1% in 24 hours. Is this normal?

Thomas

I also noticed battery drain when the lid is closed. Yesterday the battery dropped 7% (from 96% to 89%) when I left it closed for 5 hours. That's a lot! My previous MBA had no battery drain when closed. I have turned off power nap when on battery.

Just an update. Took mine to the apple store and it failed their diagnostic test for battery life. They are going to replace the laptop and send me a new one the coming week.

Odd. I have a 2012 rMBP and I don't have this issue. Also running 10.10.3

Mine is a new setup, and the battery still drain when the lid closed an it's on battery.

Log file /var/log/system.log always show and wifi wake on LAN is already turn off.

I had the same issue with mine (along with lower than expected battery life). Power nap doesn't change anything (it's not even available for "running on battery" settings). Only way to circumvent that would be to turn off wifi before sleep.

The MB does wake up several times, and is ALWAYS connected to wifi (which is why there's no delay when waking it up), unlike any other Macbooks. My MBA doesn't do that, and I never lose even 1% of battery life over several hours of sleep.

I sure hope Apple solves this with a software upgrade. Some of us would rather save battery life and wait a couple of seconds for the MB to reconnect when waking up.

I am running a 2015 Macbook Pro I purchased a few months ago. I have full battery failure if I leave it alone overnight. I can shut the lid at 100% and by morning it is off and has the plug in sign on a black screen. I have no USB connected, not performing tasks. Just closing the lid like I have on every other mac book I've owned for years. They have always held their charge with lid closed "sleep" but not this one. The Power Nap option is off and I'm stuck. Any ideas?

I have the same code showing. User is what wakes it. However, still have full drain with lid closed

You should have Apple look at it, as some systems have had issue with resistors on the Logic Board, resulting in a constant drain of the battery. For the battery to fully discharge repeatedly during sleep is pretty telling given the Macbook Pro has a far larger capacity than the Retina MacBook.

Do you know if this resistor issue affects rMBs?

If this is happening to you, I would take it in for a Genius Bar appointment. My RMb was two weeks old when I noticed it draining over 10% every time I closed it for good periods of time. I called the customer service number first and he had me reset the PRAM and the SMC. Few days went by and it was still draining badly, even when using on half brightness. So I finally took it in and the genius did a diagnostics checks. It all came back as OK, but then he clicked on the battery section and knew something was wrong. There's a box that is green at the top and red at the bottom with a white ball. The white ball is supposed to decline at a diagonal but mine was just dropping straight down, which he flagged as defective especially after only 12 charge cycles. They're ordering me a new one (I bought this one at Best Buy) because I didn't feel like I should have to send a new computer out for repair.

I was noticing my battery being lower while lid closed and not in use. Lost 17% of battery in about 9 hours time with lid closed. That should not happen. Any suggestions or make appointment at store?

Had the same issue, ended up getting the mother board replaced after taking it to the Apple Store. Take it in and let them run an MRI.

One thing we must understand is that the battery of a laptop does not store charge forever. The battery will drain even if the laptop is shut down.

But this drainage will be so minimal that we don’t feel it unless we keep the laptop shut down for a long period of time. Some time one or more software is running during sleep mode or for some reason the CPU is getting hot, and the fan is always on to try to cool it off.

Check Closing the Lid Settings
To check this, follow the steps below:

  1. Go to Run –> powercfg.cpl
  2. From the left-hand menu, click on “Choose what closing the lid does“.
  3. Make sure you have selected Sleep or Hibernate under “When I close lid” option for both On battery and Plugged in.
