Battery Drain with lid closed in Mavericks DP5 / DP6 ? anyone know why?

I have the same issue. My MBA 2013 (i7, 8GB) drains battery during sleep after the Mavericks upgrade. Makes sleep not usable.
At night I sleep it with 100% battery and unplug the power. In the morning (10 hours later) the MBA has <5% battery left.
I also did another clean install with no avail.
Every minute the following cycle repeats (output from pmset -g log). It starts exactly 3 hours after I placed the machine to sleep.

Hi Hans,

I'm experiencing the very same issue.. and I have your very same customization.

Here is my log:
Code:

07/11/13 23:19:38 GMT+1 Sleep Maintenance Sleep: Using BATT (Charge:98%)
I asked apple and it seems they don't know about this issue. They asked me to do a SMC and PRAM reset and check if the issue will come back.

Did you try SMC and PRAM reset too?

**edit**
SMC and PRAM reset don't work. They asked me to apply for a RMA wow

In my case the problem was due to the following tweak:

Code:
# Disable hibernation (speeds up entering sleep mode)
sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 0

# Remove the sleep image file to save disk space
sudo rm /Private/var/vm/sleepimage

# Create a zero-byte file instead…
sudo touch /Private/var/vm/sleepimage

# …and make sure it can’t be rewritten
sudo chflags uchg /Private/var/vm/sleepimage

After setting hibernatemode back to 3 and restored permissions on sleepimage everything is going fine

My last log:

Parallels related?

For my first contribution to macrumours....

I'm having the same problem. Close lid on MBA 2013 at the end of the day with battery at 100% and A/C disconnected. In the morning battery is down to around 5-10% and occasionally the MBA is quite warm.

The log shows
2014-03-25, 6:08:42 AM G DarkWake DarkWake [CDN] : Using BATT (Charge:36%) 5 secs
2014-03-25, 6:08:42 AM G HibernateStats hibmode=3 standbydelay=10800 rd=630 ms
2014-03-25, 6:08:42 AM G SlowResponse Kernel: Response from powerd is slow (powercaps:0x0) 28004 ms
2014-03-25, 6:08:47 AM G Assertions PID 16(powerd) Released InternalPreventSleep "PM configd - Wait for Device enumeration"

repeating endlessly

My only contribution to the thread is that I run Parallels with a Windows 7 VM. When Parallels is completely shut down this problem does not occur. When Parallels is running the problem occurs.

Apple's only suggestion was to reinstall Parallels which I've done along with the standard SMC and PRAM resets. Same outcome. Now pursuing with Parallels but not hopeful.

Does that twig any suggestions? Happy to try more tests if anyone has them.

Hi Brian,

Were you able to figure out what the problem is? I have the same exact issue on Mavericks and PD9.

Thank You, Sina

Hi Sina,

I pursued this over in the Parallels support forums and with my colleagues who run Parallels Win7 VMs. No joy. The only answer seems to be to suspend the VM before closing the lid on the MBA. I've tested every suggestion I've come across in the various fora and none of them work.

Wish I had better news.....
