Hey guys, lately my MBPr 2016 has been dropping its' charge even when it's plugged in. I have tried resetting the SMC and it still happens. It has dropped until 80% before charging back up. I am not doing anything demanding such as gaming. The laptop is not hot or anything. I have also tried calibrating the battery by running it to 0% before charging it back up.

Any ideas why this is happening? Just for information, I have 72 cycles and is the condition is "Normal".

Is it still under warranty?
If so, take it to an Apple Store.
Take some snapshots of what's going wrong.

Factory charger? And what model MacBook?

And what is the exact behavior. Are you saying it was plugged and charged at over 100% and then started dropping to 80%, and then when back up to 100% while you were still using it? Or is it continuing to drop below 80% with the charger connected?

Still under warranty, yes. I'm using a MBPr 15" TB 2016.

I'm using a factory charger with an extender but it didn't use to happen. Been using the extender for about 6 months now. My laptop is always plugged in at 100% and then it just stars dropping as if it's unplugged but upon clicking on the battery icon, it says "battery is not charging", "power source : power adapter". It will charge itself back up then after a while. However, I just woke up and left my laptop running last night and my charge is at 47%. Charger has been plugged in all night.

Edit : I can't upload the screenshot.. It keeps saying security error. I also just tried using the adapter that came with in the box and nothing.

I would get rid of the extender and see how it goes. The cable may be broke internally and failing intermittently. If the symptoms persist try another USB cable. And if they still continue, back it up and take it in. Maybe they will give you a new charger, or a new system.;)

I just tried the adapter that came in the box. It didn’t charge till 10 minutes later. I did try all 4 USBs and still nothing. I think I’m just going to take it in later and see what they say. I would be swell if they gave me a new system with all the bugs that has been going on in mine lately.

Just got my laptop back. The main logic board, keyboard and battery needed replacing. Apparently the battery is connected to the keyboard among other things. Worked out for me since I have had repeating keys ever since I received it. I noticed that the bottom half of my laptop (the shell) is new while the top (the screen) is not.

So basically you received a new computer on which they installed your old screen. Nice.

Is that actually what they do or did here? Swap out complete bottoms? Just curious.
They replaced my screen with shell and my topcase with keyboard, touchpad, batteries and touchbar attached. Only the bottom shell and logic board of my mbp 2016 were left over. Replacements of single parts like just the keyboard or just the lcd are harder to do I suppose.

My work laptop (same model) exhibits the same behavior. It's 1 month out of warranty and Apple quoted me $786 to get the repair done....

Wtf

Luckily the CC extended warranty should apply here.
