I noticed since the last IOS update my battery barely makes me through the day with hardly any use since I'm at home and using my laptop instead.
I replaced the battery back in early November on my 6s plus. Battery health says 98% and I've gone through all the settings and recommendations to save battery and yet battery drains and drains.

I know my phone is old but the battery is not, has Apple done something again to degrade battery life in older devices?

Are they still doing it? I mean after the scandal that took place some time ago?

No Apple have not done something to make older devices consume more battery. Nor did they before, they simply throttled performance to stop the phone from crashing or giving a horrible experience. Yes they should have been more open about it, but they even give you the option to choose whether you want less performance and better battery life or for the phone to perform as normal but you will suffer random shut offs etc. I don't see other companies offering that? When battery life on Android phones goes bad that's pretty much it, junk phone as you can't exactly walk into a trusted manufacturer store in any major town or city and get it replaced while you wait can you? No.

The latest iOS is not going to give the same battery life on a 6s as the original or older iOS did. Thats a fact, it does more, provides more, and is optimised largely for the newer devices. Plus you also have to remember, other things inside that phone are old, not just the battery. Processor, chips etc are all old and can get worn and tired.

OP - what screen on time are you getting? What apps are you using mostly?

it says screen on 2h 17m , screen off 4m... right now it says safari is using the most at 30%, last 24 h

average ten days screen on 2h 13m , screen off 21m

That would suggest you are listening to music or streaming from it? Screen off of only 21m makes no sense.

I know my older phones don't do so well with all the system services enabled. I have to tweak iOS a bit for good battery life, they can be found on google

not really, last nite I only watched youtube for no more than 5 minutes

but that's what the battery settings is saying, don't even know what the screen off means anyway

app background refresh it's set to off too

Which iOS version are you on? 13.3.1 had a battery drain issue that was fixed in 13.4.

Who knows, you could try doing a full reset and restore from iCloud. You bought an SE, right? Are you keeping both phones?

no I didn't , the 6s plus is the only one I have. I will be interested on the SE when and if they release a Plus size

That makes sense. I had glanced at the last few things in your discussion history and I mistook a “like” for a comment.

I had an iPhone 8 Plus for about a year, it was great, but it was sometimes a bit bulky in my pocket. I’m on an XS but I’m switching to the new SE.
