Battery goes down 10%/hour

Is this just a normal battery problem that happens after some time? It seemed to get really bad really fast recently, but it now dies 10% an hour if I don't use it at all. I close just about every app. By the way, it's a 3GS.

10%/hour=10 hours. If it's a 3GS with a 2+ year old battery, it sounds about right.

I figured it's normal. That 10% is if I don't even use it though. Once I start using it in the day, it drains faster.

That's not even close to normal for no use. Have you restored it recently? Rebooted?
