Apple will replace an Apple Watch battery for free under warranty (otherwise cost is $79) when battery health is less than 80%.

Mine is at exactly 80% and my warranty elapses on October 5.

I'm trying hard not to be a conspiracy theorist.
I know this discussion is a year old, but I couldn't help commenting in case anyone is still interested. I have an Apple Watch Gen 6. It reached 80% battery health over 5 months before my Apple Care+ ran out. I was very confident it would dip below 80% before Apple Care+ expired based on the rate of decline of the battery up till 5 months ago. WRONG! My battery health has been stuck at 80% for 5 months and Apple Care+ has run out. I opted into the renewing payment to Apple Care+ but WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE??! I thought this might be a one-off. But NO! My wife's Apple Watch has also been stuck at 80% battery health. It's "only" been 3 months in her case, but still. Please tell me there is not something rotten going on here.

My AppleCare+ coverage is ending November 13th for my S6 and I was wondering how you go about extending the coverage monthly?

The lower the health the longer and more time it will take to drop it further, exponentially sometimes. For example, the first 500-1000 cycles you could see a 20% drop. The next 500-100 cycles, you might only see 5-10%.

I once saw an iPhone 4s with (if I remember right) almost 1500 cycles and still around 8x%.

Batteries don't wear consistently.
