I have noticed that my battery icon it stays full green almost all the time, yesterday I used my phone a lot and the battery was more than 3/4 green, I started to use safari and in less than 5 min the phone turned off, when I tried to turned on the EMPTY battery icon came on. it had no charge.

I didn't even got the 20% of battery left alert.

the exact same thing happened to me yesterday and to a few of my readers/subscribers as well. Don't know why it does that. It has only done it once, i don't think it should happen again, and if it does, its a HUGE bug in 2.2

I've been having this problem occasionally even with 2.1. After a full charge, sometimes the battery shows usage, sometimes it doesn't. If it's not showing usage, restarting the phone shows a lower battery level than before the restart.

Maybe it require the user to fully discharge so that it can calibrate, but it unintentionally messes up the meter before it gets calibrated (bug).

If the problem is this popular, there is something wrong. We can only hope for another update soon, because it's needed.

Same here, it was 100% green even after using for 5hrs and to my surprise I switched OFF and turned ON and it just shows 20% available and the meter turned red. Hope this was a bug.

yea, restore the phone. Or just do a hard restart - thats what worked for me.
