Loving the new iPhone X. Everything is great except for one tiny problem. I can leave my phone on the charger all night. And it still shows charging. It has 100% charge whenever I unplug it. Battery life is really good and charges fast. I noticed when I received my phone the battery was dead at 2%. I thought that was odd. Apple ran a test and all looked good to them. I tried the new charger that came with the phone plus a iPad charger. Same thing still showing charging. Called Verizon and they are sending out a new phone. They want to replace it Incase I have problems down the road. What sucks is paying for another zagg screen protector. I turned in a warranty on the zagg. I had to pay $22.00 for another one. That was for the shipping and tracking number. Can’t really complain much. Other than that the phone is perfect. No fuzz or dirt under the camera lens solid build.

My understanding is that even when fully charged the lightning symbol will still be there. So really nothing to worry about.

This doesn't sound like anything to worry about. Nor is the phone dying at 2%. Devices will normally shut themselves down when they are extremely low on power because it's not good for the battery to drain completely. Also, the battery percentage is something of an estimate anyway.

Glad I wasn't the only one slightly confused by what his post was about, but anyway, if everything is normal:
  • Phone is at 2% off the charger - battery icon normal
  • Plug phone in or use wireless charger - battery icon shows it is on charge
  • Phone gets to 100% but still on charger - battery icon shows it is on charge, because it is
  • Unplug phone or take off charger - battery icon returns to normal
Anything different to that (i.e. showing the charging icon even when off the charger) is not normal and warrants investigation. But, I suspect the OP has nothing to worry about.

When the phone is plugged into the power source it will always show the same charging icon whether or not it is actively charging. It's how it's been for a number of iOS versions now. Doesn't seem like there's anything wrong with what you are describing.
 
That’s good to know. I thought it was my phone. Does you’re phone do that.

Op you’re replacing your phone for no reason. Battery icon will show its charging even at 100%, this is normal, as others have already told you. Hope your replacement is free of any defects, that would be my bigger worry.
