anyone else noticed that no screenshots of the apple watch show a battery indicator of any sort (unless i've missed a vital screenshot somewhere)?

In an optimisitc way this could suggest such good battery life that you don't need to worry about it! - e.g. an alert will simply pop up simply saying something like "this is your last day of full heavy usage until you need to charge it up again".

Wishful thinking. They didn't want to talk about battery life at the announcement, so it wouldn't surprise me if they removed an ap for it, or even eliminated battery readings on some screens. If they can't provide 18 hours of moderate usage with a new battery, that will hold back this generation.

Full heavy usage will likely need to be charged mid-day. This isn't a devise designed for heavy usage. If you need to do more than a few quick things, you'll take out your phone, tablet or computer.

Possible the meter will be in the iPhone control app or possible it just wasn't in the pre alpha and demo loop software shown at the event, but will be added.
