Battery indicator

I'm having problems with my Powerbook's battery indicator. It is set to "Normal" but when it's showing about 15% left the PB shuts down without giving any warnings that the battery is low. When I plug it back into the mains it starts charging showing 0%. This is getting very infuriating.

Any help is much appreciated.

Have you tried calibrating the battery?

How old is the battery? Often times this type of behavior is indicative of a shorted cell. If that's the case, a new battery is in order.
