right now i have the brightness down to the lowest setting and only have firefox open. i have a 76% charge remaining and the battery meter is telling i have 1:42 left. i have a late 2008 unibody macbook pro. before snow leopard i could consistently get 3 hours of battery life with wifi on and 4 hours with no wifi. after snow leopard i cant get beyond 2 hours even with wifi off and no programs running. has anyone with a late 2008 mbp experienced bad battery life?

Download coconut battery. This a free application and it will tell your the health of your battery. If it is poor and you have apple care, kindly ask them to replace it for you.

I wonder why that might be? OpenCL is more energy demanding to run? I thought SL was suppose to be more efficient, thus, required less power to operate?

i have coconut battery and istat pro it says the battery has a 96% health. before snow leopard it said 99%. i have calibrated several times but that doesn't change anything.

What's using OpenCL again?

Losing about 30 minutes of life under Snow Leopard seems to be par for the course.

Hmm I have about the same after installing SL.
Getting 3.5hrs to 4hrs (if i really try hard 😛)

also if i ever start using flash (youtube, hulu) im lucky if it even lasts an hour.

btw i have 96 cycles in 4 months. its a refurbished computer but i originally got it with 3 cycles and 100% health.
