I‘ve an AW5 since day one, currently running with watchOS 6.2.6.
Since some days I‘ve a battery issue - or maybe two. One thing is, my battery stays for very long at 100% (right now I‘ve worn my AW for over 7 hours and the battery is still at 100%). On the other side, I‘ve had it several times dieing just below 20%. I wasn‘t able to repower it on without the charger. After 1 minute charging the watch was already by over 20% battery.
Is there a way to recalibrate the battery (except unpairing)?

cheers

***This was posted by another poster and it worked for me.

I *may* have solved the problem for now. I can't recall if I read the "fix" here or on Apple's Community pages, but I set the watch on the charger, walked away. It was at 99% for 4 hours, but by hour 4 the watch was cool to the touch as if it was no longer actually charging, wheras after an hour on the charger it definitely felt warm. I then turned the watch off for 30 minutes. When I turned the watch on again, it showed 100% and seemed to drain at an expected rate. This morning when I charged my watch, it charged up to 100% for the first time in weeks. Removed watch and I am wearing it now and the battery reads 97% after two hours of wear. Seems like it's behaving properly. Now I wait to see if the issue returns or not.

(So basically fully charge it. Take it off the charger and turn it off for 30 mins and then turn it back on.)

Thank you, looks like this solved my problem as well!
It was just as you said, my AW got stuck on the charger at 99% (for this instance I didn‘t charged it over night so the charging process was right under my control). After removing it from charging, power it off for over half an hour it went back on with 98% battery. And then the battery drained within 1-2 minutes to 82%, 71% till 57%. Never saw this happend before but it seems like the watch did recalibrating the percentage of the battery.
At the moment I‘m at 4% remaining battery and everything was normal during the day since 57% of charge. I‘m positive this was it!

Fyi, after almost two weeks since the problem was fixed: my AW and the battery percentage are just working as they should. Problem definitily resolved!

So, basically, we can 'recalibrate' the battery by charging it up to 100%, then turn off the AW for 30min and it 'll do?
