back up to iTunes on your computer first. then restore and set up as NEW. if the problem still persists take it to an Apple store.

May be a dumb question, but if I set up as new, do I have to manually re enter/download everything? Also can I back up to iCloud instead of iTunes?

Yes you have to manually download and set up everything again. This was the initial advice given to me by the Apple Store. They claimed they couldn't find a battery or setting issue. They suspected it was software related and I had to set it up as new.

Having to reload all your apps is a great opportunity to thin the herd a bit. I realized I hadn't used half my apps in over a year. It didn't solve my battery issue though.

Is everyone really having their iPhones go dead, or is it just that you are seeing a drop in the battery's power that is left?

As of a few days ago, I could make it through a whole day easy. Now all of the sudden I'll look at my phone late in the morning and my battery will be down over 50%. There are also issues with it going dead around 30% then as soon as I plug it in it will jump back up above 30. Seems like something is draining in background but I will have everything closed. Apple ran a test on mine and said the battery is fine.

So even when it shows it's about dead you still can call text search the the net. right?
And Apple tested the battery and it's good so you still can use your phone.

If your iphone is under warranty, Apple will repair of replace if it has no GPS. If it is out of warranty they do not owe you squat and you will remain "lost"..

Fortunately they were less of a dick about it than you were. They acknowledged the GPS isn't working correctly but can't replace it. So I can buy a replacement unit for $250. That's better than spending $750 for a new device.

And I'm using my American Express on all future Apple purchases to extend the warranty an extra year.

This was the very reason i went with renting my phone from Sprint, and also bough an insurance policy to cover theft and dropping.
At the end of my contract i can upgrade keep on renting or pay $200 and own the iPhone, then the Monthly cost to me drops to around $50.

Just to keep everyone up to date with where I went with this. After a lot of testing and debating I finally went and got the battery replaced by the Apple Store with out of warranty service. Costed me £59 but boy oh boy, look at the result.

Yeah, I had a really hard time paying for a replacement that would have a 90 day warranty. So I decided to weigh my options. My phone was paid off through AT&T NEXT. But the benefit of not having a payments evaporated when my phone stopped working correctly. Seriously thinking about just considering it an ongoing lease and just trading it in every year.

Although the plus side of NEXT is it makes it really easy to make a short term commitment to another phone. I thought long and hard about taking the plunge to the Galaxy S7. It's a lot easier when I know the commitment is only a year. And based on the current rumors of the 7, it's the perfect time to jump.

I had a Galaxy III and when i had a problem with Virgin Mobil's poor signal is went back to an my iPhone6 and Sprint.
I did like being able to just paste files into my Galaxy that you are not allowed to do with the Apple systems there are good work arounds i have found to use, but also i have read that Samsung is not quick to upgrade their operating system for security items.
This is where Apple is really good at upgrading their O.P.s for security.
So i feel i will be staying with Apple, no matter what i do when contract is up.
