Apple officially announced that the new battery in 11 Pro will last 4 or 5 hours longer than in XS/Max.
That's pretty incredible, probably the best improvement.
But according to this:
https://news.softpedia.com/news/iph...x-ram-and-battery-specifications-527360.shtml
the new batter is only 10-15% larger. Maybe this is the "innovation" they mentioned?

Or maybe they are comparing iPhone 11 Pro in the dark mode vs XS in regular mode?
That would be a little bit misleading, I hope it's not the case.

10-15% battery size increase is pretty substantial, in previous years Apple has decreased battery size while also increasing battery life. The battery boost, plus the A13, plus other things like the U1 chip mean that the CPU can be in a super low power state a majority of the time, and really only wake when you are actively using it. Also I believe the display is more power efficient as well compared to last year, so there are savings all around.

Sorry, not buying it. 4-5 more hours thanks to a processor tweak? Seriously?
Let's see some real numbers.
According to Apple, yes. Check out this article by The Verge. But I suspect it's down to a combination of factors including the processor efficiencies, increase in physical size of the batteries and others.

Apple does like their marketing spin, but one thing they’re usually pretty good about is giving accurate battery life projections.

I’m not really sure why you made the thread though. If you don’t believe Apple, why would you believe anything posted here? You might as well just wait and see.

Isn't this the place to discuss things?

It is, but it kind of seems like you’ve already made up your mind so I’m not sure what there is to discuss.

5 hour increase is huge. Apple should be promoting it everywhere.
It's not even mentioned here, only some cr@p about "pro" features:
https://www.apple.com/iphone/

Apple clearly wanted to make the camera improvements the main focus of this phone. If you click the “Learn More” link for the iPhone 11, they discuss the battery improvements right after discussing the camera.

Apple also clearly likes controlling the user experience. From that perspective, promoting battery life as the main feature isn’t a good idea because it is dependent on things outside of Apple’s control (your usage patterns, network connectivity, how bright you keep your screen, etc). But they can control what you experience when using the camera.

Ehhh...they didn't say 5 more hours of screen time so I'd take this with a grain of salt. Aren't they still touting the iPhone 11 non-pro as the longest iPhone battery ever? That one's only getting an hour more than last year. It seems that 4-5 more hours of battery should push these phones into that position. That phone must really be a beast.
