Thanks all, this is the 1st thread I've seen the signal strength mentioned as a cause for battery strength drain. ...

Then you haven't been reading enough, it has been said plenty of times that weak signal will make the cellphone pull more battery. :)

TS, if you have been using backups from various gens then I recommend you might start fresh restore as new w/ DFU no backup and see if it improves.

Any body has idea about my 5S situation?
I have done factory restore, battery calibration (full discharge to 0%, then full charge to 100% no disturb).
Check log-aggregated data, maxCapacity is 1456, seems still 92%.

But I have tested 3 times, airplane mode/clear all background apps/no push mail/disable location services/disable animation/...
the result is still very bad.
3rd time result is 26% left after usage:2mins, standby: 9hours5mins.

I want to give DFU restore a chance.
But I think it will be disappointed too.

Any suggestion?

The battery is shot, no form of restore will help sadly. What iPhone model is it?!

model A1533 (GSM), T-mobile unlocked version, bought from Apple Online Store.
model ME328LL/A
iOS 7.0.4

I tried DFU restore with firmware iOS 7.0.4 and tested again.
No help.

I originally want to try iOS 7.1 beta2, but I give up and send back to Apple.

I guess I get the one of iPhone5S of the Battery Manufacturing Issue News.
But they didn't reach out to find this one, or maybe this phone is the other special case.
I think this phone should be a good experiment sample for improving the yield rate.

the result of this morning.

F. Automatic app updating
G. Motion effects.
H. Antennae like wifi and Bluetooth being on and in constant searching mode

sigh, I have good SS, have done all of these things, still crappy
battery use.
I used to just charge once every day.
Now it's sometimes twice a day.

i checked all over and cant seem to get a solid answer. ive restored my phone a few times now, set up as new.....tried just about everything. i an unable to get the heavy battery drain to subside.

from what i gather, there is no real advantage to DFU restore over a normal restore is there? i dont feel like trying it in order to help my battery life if its not gonna do anything different.

I had a battery issue when I restored from iOS 7 GM to public release (which is pretty much the same thing). After a regular restore > NEW didn't fix the battery problem I did a DFU restore and that DID resolve it.

I don't think anyone has been able to figure out what a DFU restore does that is different.

Apple isn't hiding anything about DFU mode. You can even ask them to DFU right out of the box in the store. It's actually not a mystery or secret. DFU mode works at a lower level in the bootloader environment, which happens without any interaction with iOS. This is the very reason DFU mode saves us from a corrupted firmware, because it is not a part of the iOS firmware.

Which suggests that the firmware from the betas was the issue. DFU restores include the firmware, unlike the basic restore

Well, the battery life on iOS 7 GM build was just fine. It's when I restored to the public release where it went downhill.
