100% charge at 6:30 am, 2:05pm and sitting at 86%. Texted two or 3 times used siri once to set a ten minute timer. Did the "Breathe" thing once then turned it off, checked the weather forecast once. Watch comes on all the damn time as I move around alot. I'm pleased with battery so far.

So... how are you using yours? What apps and what faces? Any settings turned off or adjusted? Background app refresh? Do you get many texts/notifications?

All settings are pretty much default. Medium brightness. My only notifications are twitter and text messages.

My watch face is the "Modular" one. I think this is where I'm gaining the most battery life since that Watch face has no moving graphics and most of the screen is black (which for an OLED means that those parts of the screen are off). Using the time lapse Watch face or jelly fish dramatically reduces my battery life.

Using the workout app also reduces battery life but so far my day to day use has been great. At the time of this writing, my Watch has been on for 4.5 hours with medium-light use and it's only dropped 10%.

Put the watch on at 6:00am Eastern, grabbed a flight, used the watch for texting and my mobile plane tickets, and now, at 2:55pm Central, I'm at 85%. I've filled up the dock with apps that I use the most, like Messages, Calendar, Email, and a few others.

Nice!

What's apps? Type of usage? More info helps us better gage why it's lasting so long for you!

No third party apps and I didn't use the workout out app today because I am sick. Normally a 45-60m workout session knocks 5-10% off my battery.
Normal/regular usage -receiving several text alerts through the day. I've mentioned this before in other threads; Background app refresh and the dock are what kill the battery. I've turned off background app refresh on all but 3 things and only have the workout app in my dock. Battery can last me 2-3d EASY. I charge every night though because it doesn't make sense not to.

For anyone following along, I deleted the yahoo sports app and have seen a dramatic improvement in battery life. Still running the ESPN complication.

My new 42mm Series 1 was really bad. Typically less 10% at the end of the day, with very moderate usage (just checking the time and answering a few text). I tried rebooting and re-pairing, nothing seemed to work.

Inspired by this thread, I tried removing all complications and apps from the Dock. So far I'm at >50% after 24 hours. I think some app (Mail, for example) was running wild for me. I've described this in a Reddit thread and an online spreadsheet:

For those of you with a Series 1 who have posted here, has your battery improved at all as the days have gone on and you have gotten into a routine using your new watch?

I'm really torn between the Series 1 and Series 2 and trying to gather as much information as I can. The only thing I REALLY want from the Series 2 is the better battery, but I am having a hard time justifying the extra $100. I know I will charge my watch every night, but I want it to comfortably make it to the night consistently.

This will be my first apple Watch.

Ive only had it about 4 days, first day it sucked. 15% left from 6am-3:30pm, just regular usage.

I killed background app refresh, turned off the heart rate checking in the privacy settings, and dropped brightness down to lowest, and haptic and medium. Now, with the same usage, I have about %40 left at 3:30pm after slapping it on at 6am. YMMV of course.
Didn't read the other replies here, but something is wrong here. You should take it to get checked out. My series 0 watch easily lasted from 8am to 1am daily with average use, nothing disabled. You shouldn't have to disable anything to make it to bedtime without issue, let alone 3:30pm.

I agree. I'd disabled a ton of stuff on my Series 1 and it was in power reserve after 12 hours. Switched back to Series 0. Last night I had 50% remaining after wearing for 18 hours, with a few apps in dock, many complications, medium brightness, heart rate enabled, Taptic high. 38mm too. If my Series1 wasn't defective/buggy, I don't know what it was.

My Series 1 (which I love) was on from 6:30 am and was on reserve by 10 pm. I had to put it on the charger for awhile so I could get my last stand for the day and meet all my activity goals. :)

I'm getting very solid numbers on series 2.. as I've posted before.. I get about 5:30 minutes USAGE and 26-28 hours standby.. so add the two.
that includes usually at least 1 1 hour WO with GPS (no phone) and lots of siri, texting, weather checking, use of timers, ESPN etc. It's nice to be able to wear it, all day, including nightime and not have to rush to charge in the AM or at all.

I have a series 1. Whenever I reboot I get great battery on that day, like 70% before going to bed! Then it's crap for the next day/s. I've tried disabling siri (helps a bit) background refresh and so on.... BUT I discovered something interesting.

I check the health app on the iPhone. On the day I reset it, it only checked my heart rate once. On the next days with poor battery life, it's checking my heart every 8 minutes. I'm not sure why this is necessary... So I've disabled the heart monitor for now and will see how it goes (although I still want it for gym workouts)

I found the battery life on my s1 to be really good at first and easily got two days out of it, but then it went to crap and was burning about 7% an hour doing nothing. Unpairing and pairing always worked (reset did sometimes), but every time I turned the watch back on (I was turning it off at night) it would go back to about 7% an hour. Obviously I just leave it on now, but hopefully a bug that will be fixed in a os update.
I just checked my heart rate on the health app and it's checking it every 4 minutes!! I'm currently at 92% after wearing it for 3 1/2 hrs and only checking the time. Is there a way to change how often it checks the heart rate? Can't see one.

As an update to my earlier post; simply reducing the screen brightness from the brightest setting (as it came out of the box) has significantly improved the battery life on my wifes Series 1. All other settings remain default. She still uses it for about 15 hours a day, and ends up with it at around 20%.

My series 2 arrives today!

Looks like I spoke too soon. 1 hr usage and 12 hrs standby with virtually everything off or the lowest setting and down to 55%. Not terrible, but nowhere near what I was getting on default settings. God knows what changed since yesterday.

That is exactly what happened on my S1. I rebooted and came on here to proclaim it was fixed. The next day it was back to terrible battery life.

WatchOS3 not having any issues like that on the original gen I went back to. At 90% on my 38mm after 5 hours standby with no features turned off.

Which is why I still believe the dock causes the problems.
Even if you get rid of all the apps in the dock, the watch still keeps the recent apps you've used in it. And when you restart the watch you basically clear out the dock again.

I said this in another thread before, I really believe it's a software issue caused by the dock and I hope they will fix this with the next software update.

If anyone's interested my battery life has been fantastic for the last few days. Haven't changed anything since the other day, but I'm not sitting at 92% after 12 hours standby by and 32 mins usage. I appreciate that's not much usage, but still impressive for the standby time alone. Last few days it's been going down at about 1% an hour with not much usage. Fingers crossed it continues. Something was obviously screwing with it, either the heart rate monitor or live weather.

My S1 battery life has been great. I'm constantly checking mail and sending messages using scribble while at work during the day. put it on at 7am and don't take it off until 7pm at the earliest. It's usually around 25% at that point. On the weekends when I'm not using it for email and messages as much, it's been around 35-40% at the end of the day.

Now that I've had my series 2 for a few days; I've adjusted nothing. All settings are as they came out of the box. I get up at 6AM and put the watch on, and put it away when I go to bed around 11. Usually with 25% battery or so. I'd say that's pretty good!

Interesting. I have the heart monitor app in the dock and when I open it it shows me a recent heartbeat rate.
I wonder if it impacts battery life hardly, I'll try to disable it one day and see how much battery is left at night
