Wow I'm so surprised b the responses - my battery is at 10% before 1pm most days if I make more than a couple long calls. I'm on the Internet on it often but not anything I would think is an unusual amount.. Yet when I asked about it at the Genius Bar the guy kinda laughed and was like yep, iPhone gets about 6 hours max.... So I thought this is just normal????

Only seen 2 situations where battery life like this happened - first was some program failed to shutdown properly and ate significant battery time and the other was when staying at the beach where we got no signal or very little where my iphone and my wifes razor both were dead overnight trying to find a signal. I would go back to apple and ask for a replacement.

I would try a reset, then a restore and if those don't work (which is likely) its time to visit the Genius Bar

The battery life on the iPhone isn't great but you should be able to get a day + change use off of it

Reception

To the OP, is there any chance that during the day you do not have a signal where you are constantly and the phone could be searching and searching for a signal while your not using it or looking at it? That will drain the battery if your in an area where there is no signal.
A few times I've been in an area where I could not get a signal at all and hours later when I did get to an area where I received reception the battery was down to 20% and I never used the phone at all. However this does not happen during my normal day.
