Same here. Took the watch on this morning at 7 am . Used it not a lot. Actually I used it as much as I would assume someone with such a watch will use it. Of course first day and I may have played a little more with it. Long story short at 8 pm the watch went into power savings mode...

Hey Apple thats 13 hours and not 18 !!! Where did my missing 5 hours go?

I may send the watch back...

Yeah def do that on a one day test and without waiting for the imminent software update, it's what anyone sane would do.....

Well the return period is 14 days. Better I return it while it is in pristine conditions. I will test it a few more days but if it doesn't improve then it is not enough for me.

I took mine off the charger at 7:30 this morning (full charge) and it's been used a lot for both personal use and development testing all day until now (21:37.) It's not been near a charger since I put it on this morning.

According to the battery usage in the iPhone app it's been on standby for 13 hours 47 minutes and usage of 2 hours 52 minutes and it still has has 36% battery left.

So I'm actually very pleased with my battery life, especially for it's first real day.

And just for the sake of completeness, here's the screenies.

Would be usefull if everybody trll us if it is 42 or 38mm because they have different battery lives

I put mine on about 9 AM this morning. It's now almost 6:30 PM. I'm at 30%. I have been playing with it quite a bit. I also went for a 40 minute walk and used the workout app.

Sounds like I need to contact Apple, going to do it tomorrow. By the time I got home (at like 6pm) the battery was at 5%.

Additionally, my iPhone 6+ goes dead way faster as well. Not nearly as bad, but I was at 60% when I got home. Normally by this point I would be at 70%. That amount is ok.

However, the watch is painfully bad.

Crap I should have gotten a screenshot of this before I put it on charge. I will do it tomorrow.

Took it off the charger at 9am and went about my Saturday. Used it a little bit here and there, nothing crazy. My 6 year old son did very well in his swim lesson today, so I let him play with the watch. He used it nonstop for an hour straight including some games. Now at 7pm it's at 36%. I consider that excellent because if he hadn't played with it, it would be so much higher.

38 sport

38mm. Mine was at 100 percent at 6 a.m. I played with it heavily for about 5 hours this morning, moderately since then. It's 6 p.m. now and it's showing 53 percent battery left. It will easily make it to 11 tonight with plenty to spare.

Are you using any third party apps? I know those all "run" on the iPhone, but I've already noticed that my battery takes a hit much faster when I open a third party app vs just using Apple's stock apps.

To throw in another reference point, I put mine on 10 hours ago and it's at 54% right now, including a 20 minute run with the workout app recording.

Those that have good battery life, which watch face are you using ? I am using the butterflies, I wonder if that could be causing it.

I've switched a few times today, but most of the day it has been on Motion (jellyfish) or Solar.

I decided to test my battery life yesterday. I took it off charge at 8am on Saturday and now at 8am on Sunday I still have 23% left. Battery life dipped by 13% while I slept. The battery life for me is much better than expected.

Just a guess on my part since my watch is set to deliver in May, but is everyone on IOS8.3 or are some of you still on 8.2. My wife's watch is on 8.3, and I'm wondering if it makes a difference in battery life.

I posted this a few days ago and people where laughing at me calling me crazy

But that's what I do with new iPhone or iPad , I let the battery die

That's helps with battery next time is fully charged

I only do it once In the beginning

I've read that this isn't a good thing to do with lithium polymer batteries. This is something that came from nickel metal hydride batteries. With LiPo batteries, its better to charge at 50% every time, if possible.

Try a black face.

Never do Blackface. It's racist!

Just to throw my results in. I woke up at 9am ... 100% charge on my watch. I've been using it normally to check notifications, look at glances.. and even had a 5 min phone call through the watch with my mother.. I also played 4 songs using my watch as the source and connected to my bluetooth headphones. It is now 7:18pm and I'm sitting at 62%.

That's 10 hours and not even at the halfway mark yet. I'm not sure if some watches have defects, but I'm loving the battery life on this watch.

PS- I should mention that I don't have my brightness on the highest setting. I have it on the medium setting.

I'm very impressed with the battery life. Pulled it off the charger at 6:45am, and it's now 6:18pm and the battery is at 62%. I've been using it a lot since this is my first full day. Oh it's the 42mm version.

Ambient brightness is going to have a huge effect on battery life. If you use it indoors the screen will use a lot less energy than outdoors when it is very bright.

Mine was down to 5% by 9:30pm after 14 hours on my wrist. The app showed 4 hours of use in this time, and that included two 35 minute workouts. About what Iexpected, but a long way from great.

38 or 42mm?

42mm

75% left
12 hours 37 minutes standby
1 hour 10 minutes usage

That's what I've gotten so far today,

Off the charger at 6 am and moderate use all day. At 60% right now. I'm actually really impressed.

I thought with the newer batteries, draining them was bad?

I thought it was best to stay im between 20-90%?

Correct. Every now and then is fine, but as a rule keep it within that range. Not going below 20% is easy (go into power reserve or switch off) but not going above 90% is hard as typically you put it on charge when you sleep! Don't know if Apple has an automatic charge cut off when it gets to 100% like some of their other products... I hope they do as over charging heats up the Li-Ion battery and literally changes its chemical composition resulting in it holding less charge!
