I've had mine 8 full days now (received 8am on 4/24) and I haven't once yet come close to depleting the battery. I wear it 6:30am to 12:30am daily, and it's nearly never dropped below 30% for me. Maybe once it hit 25%. And that's with a lot of emails and iMessages.

I take it off and charge it while I sleep. I wouldn't wear a conventional watch to sleep, either, so it's been no different.

Battery life is of no concern to me. The battery indicator is no longer one of my displayed complications.

I wear mine to sleep. Ever since I had a Fitbit, then a Pebble and then Fitbit Surge I've been wearing my watch/fitness tracker on the weekdays to bed so I can wake up at 4:30am to hit the gym. I'm married now and don't want to set a loud alarm and wake her up too. When I was single I needed 2 alarms to wake me up, one set on the Radio and one set on a loud beeping alarm. The vibrating/tapping on my wrist is a good change that works 90% of the time.

ok so Friday was basically my first full day of using the Apple watch, from 9am until night (about 11pm) and I used it somewhat often throughout the day, as I would probably on a normal day, with the odd checking notifications and frequently checking time. Had a somewhat active day, ultimately logging 20k steps/1172 calories.

So today (saturday) I worked, which is in retail/customer service where I would normally not carry a phone, so I just wore my watch but on airplane mode/do not disturb/silent mode, just checking the time once in awhile. I thought that having the watch disconnected from the phone and supposedly doing nothing but checking time and tracking my activity the battery would last, especially compared to friday when it was connected to the phone and being used? But by the end of my 8hour shift I only had about 20% left!! And activity just logged like 300cal/5k steps.

So any Ideas on what might have caused the battery to drain so fast when the watch wasn't even being used or connected to iPhone? Any apps or something that may be running in the background taking up battery? I'm very confused right now haha. Also I know there is a battery reserve feature, but I do wish to continue tracking my activity while i'm working, and if I understand correctly battery/power reserve function would not track any activity?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Some people on this forum have suggested that the watch constantly looks for your iPhone when not connected - that might be what's draining your battery.

Thanks for the info! I'm seriously happy with the watch, but I want to know my battery life is just as good as the next guy. Usually I'll go to bed with 35 or 40% , but that's without the workout and moderate use. I think my battery has been steadily improving over the last week. The first night I charged it after a full day, it was at 20%. Anyone else notice this?

Your battery is fine. Can't believe you're actually sweating this. Charge it at night and you'll never have anything to worry about. Ending the day with 35-40% on a device that claims "all day battery life" is great.

Battery Life issues

Got my applewatch on 5/6. Start using the activities app. Went to play golf using the app to record my workout. It was 100% at first tee. After playing 18 holes in 2 and half hours, it went down to 40%. I noticed that it keeps turning the 2 green lights(BP sensors) in the back. Any suggestions?
It is time to turn the BP sensors off when I do exercise. It is high nyway.

General question … Have any if you used any battery pack to try to charge your watch? I don't have my watch yet, but previously I invested in several battery packs to charge my phone, and iPad. I'm wondering if these battery packs will work with the watch.
Thankfully, yes. And actually, it's been a lifesaver. The good thing about battery packs is that they will generally charge anything that's capable of being charged by USB. Thankfully I had one anyway for things like my iPhone, Tablet, and sometimes my Nintendo 3DS, etc., and I can confirm that it works just fine on my new Apple Watch also. To be honest, the only real issue I have is that sometimes if more than one of those runs out of battery, that I don't always have enough juice left to charge more than one or two of those, so I can see myself having to lug around a second battery pack with me for all those things just to make sure I don't run out of power. lol. (Admittedly, it kinda takes the portable of out of the term 'portable devices' lol, but it's a necessary evil at this point, so I'm glad I have one.

Thank you for your reply, I actually have two back up batteries. One is like 3200ma and it will recharge my phone one full time, I also have one with two ports, and it has a 12000ma battery. Both are made by Jackery, and now I can justify the large one that I bought first, and then discovered it was overkill most of the time. Now I will feel at ease when ever I find the occasion to travel.

Took my Apple Watch off the charger 5 minutes ago and the only activity I've done on the watch is unlock it, yet I'm still down to 97% battery....

I had my watch fully charged at 100% last night at 11pm when I went to bed. Wore it for the silent alarm at 6am. Worked perfectly. Watch was at 94% when I woke. Two nights in a row now and exact same percentage.

That seems great.

Definitely a problem, since I take my watch off the charger and 2 hours later I'm still at 99%. Granted I've only used it for a few notifications so far, so basically it's like I haven't even really used it at all.
