I got a S3 today, Yesterday with similar usage I went to bed and my 8 plus was at 60%, its now 4 hours from bedtime and I am already at 30%.

Is this normal? any way of stopping this drain?

Not normal but not likely the fault of the watch.

Yes, I saw the same thing happen with my phone the day I got my watch. All the watch stuff has to be downloaded from your phone, which uses energy. Once you stop adding so many things to your watch (took me 2 days), the phone battery life goes back to normal.
