So I know there's already a huge thread on this, but I was interested in peoples' experience with battery life on the 6s specifically. I've seen people post varying results, but I personally get around 5.5 hours of usage on my phone, without ever turning on Low Power Mode.

I do turn off features that are known to be battery hogs (Spotlight Search, Wi-fi assist, Bluetooth, Airdrop, Background App Refresh). Even so, a lot of my friends with the iPhone 6 experience better battery life (around 7 hours). They generally have the same features on/off. I wish it came down to something that I'm missing, but I don't think that is the problem. Just wondering what others' experiences were and if you guys have any advice.

It really depends on your activities and provide network condition. In my case, I unplug the phone at 7am, and coming back home at 8pm with about 10-15% left. I didn't play games, but I read a lot of ebooks, checking email and using whatsapp actively. I didn't register to Apple Music as well.

Well the actually battery itself, though smaller, is only a little bit more than 5% smaller in capacity, and the chipset in the 6s has been made more efficient so it should balance out in the end, hence why apple says they both give the same battery life. A 5% difference in capacity isn't going to be the reason you see 1.5 hours less battery time than your friends seem to get.

From my own experience, what apple says about them having the same battery life, holds true.

I get either about the same usage (7-7.5 hrs) on my 6s as I do my 6, without battery saver mode..or better with the 6s using battery saver mode (my 6 is on iOS 8, 6s is on iOS 9 so 6 doesn't have battery saver feature to compare with) Currently, with 62% battery time dedicated for VLC (to watch videos), I am at 58% battery life left of which I have 3h 23 mins usage time and 7.5 hrs standby.

Not sure why you are getting such a discrepancy, battery life is a weird thing (sometimes I do get 5.5 hours usage time as well but it all depends on the nature of the task too; as sometimes I get 9 hours of battery time) most days its always at least 7 hours, usually 7.5 in my experience before I need to plug it in.

Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on. I don't use my phone for anything particularly taxing (Snapchat, Facebook, Safari, Messenger, Instagram are the apps that typically use the most battery for me). I am not having the problem with Facebook background activity either. On top of that my friends use the same cell phone provider in the same area (college campus).

Can't be bothered to do a restore from new now, but might do it when 9.2 is released to see if this fixes the problem.

You can always take it to the Apple Store to make sure your battery is good I guess

Duplicate post.

I got my iphone 6s a few days ago (Tuesday night). For the first few days, the battery seemed worse than the iphone 6. I thought that certain things were just draining the battery. However, just in the last half day, I've noticed an improvement.

I went to sleep and it was at around 89%. I woke up 7 hours later and it was at 82%. That's not bad. I charged it fully (I do notice, it takes a bit longer to charge, or is that just my own head?) and used it on my way to work the entire time - which I don't always do, as I normally read a book or something. I used the news app mainly and the NYTimes app and it went from 100% to about 93 when I got to the office. I'd say that's not bad.

What i'm trying to say is, after the first few days, it started to get better for me.

I'm okay with mine so far. It feels sufficient most of the time, although sometimes I see the Facebook app using more than an hour on "background activity." What the hell is that app doing?

So far I have never been able to achieve more than 6.5 hours using it in wifi, 4g and with about 2-3 days stby mode non stop (i do not switch it off overnight). I nevertheless find that it is lasting less than my wife 6. Can you please also look at how much battery it consumes when doing panorama pictures? I have opened a thread for this and i would really appreciate your feedback. Thanks

Your battery life sounds way below average. I'd get it checked out at an Apple store.

I'm happy with my battery life I'm a moderate user and use some battery saving tips I got from this site. I turn off apps I don't want to background refresh reduced motion on notifications for all apps on location on for find my phone and I only charge every 2 days. Sometimes if I use a lot it will last a day and a half

I'm very happy with my 6S battery life. I consistently get 7-8 hrs usage and lasts me through the day easily with moderate use. I disable most common battery saving features and run my screen at about 35-45% brightness depending on lighting conditions.

Think my best was 8 hours and 30 minutes usage on WiFi all day.

This is also with a Samsung chip. :D

What settings do you disabled or changed to achieve this duration?

Very happy with mine and it's a Samsung chip and everything is turned on.

Guys, do you find that the percentage is accurate? For me it is not at all the case as i can see that battery sometimes drop of 1 percent in 1 minute and during next minutes the rate of discharge is much more robust. Moreover these drops of 1 percent look more recurrent when waking up the phone from a short standby. May you please share your experience / remarks? Thanks.

I think it depends on what you are doing and what is happening in the background also, but I don't think it is accurate. It's more of a rough guide.

Thanks but it is weird though as, earlier, it dropped fast 2-3% in about 5 min by just doing some SIRI requests in wifi ...... In other cases the percentage reading seems more regular

My GF will use up her 6 battery most days, so she has been using battery cases. She switched from a Mophie that was acting up to the Apple Battery case. The Apple one is so much nicer it is ridiculous. And while the Apple one has significantly less battery than the Mophie, it has plenty. You only need enough battery to get you to the next convenient charging time. And there is no way that she would ever go through battery and case in a day no matter how busy.

So if battery is a big issue, get the Apple case. The case doesn't weigh too much more, it protects the phone and it improves your grip and hold on it.

Try an iTunes restore from backup. It's painless and it solved my battery issues.

I have a smart case and the total duration is fine but these jumps of battery are weird and i had never seen them on an iphone
