Hey!
So i just bought a series 2 watch and it came with 3.2.3 installed. battery life has been awesome! it usually lasts 2 days and i still have 20-30% left when i go to bed. I'm really enjoying this since i don't want to be forced to charge the watch every night. I did read about a lot of people having bad battery life on watchOS 4 with their older watches. Is that still a thing or was it just a beta issue? Is battery life still gonna be this good on watchOS 4?

The first generation Apple Watch was affected on the battery life from watchOS 4.0. As for future updates, there's no telling how the Apple Watch will react overall. But given the process improvements on the Series 3 Apple Watch, that performs fairly well.

Series 1 battery life seemed improved after setting up as new when I set up my iPhone X as new.

Used iCloud to synch all data, including health, so I kept all achievements and activity data.
