I really regret giving up my 11 Pro, the battery life on the 12 Pro just simply doesn't seem very good. Not bad but not great either.

Anyone else feel the same? I can't help but think reducing the battery size was a poor decision by Apple.

Do you have any specific values at hand so others could compare with what you’re seeing?

Supposedly 5G modems are bigger than 4G modems. The sacrifice was battery size. With MagSafe car charging mounts, I easily make it all day with my 12mini. Yesterday from 8am to 9pm I had 40% battery left. That was no charging and moderate browsing through the day. You give up certain things for 5G... and I don’t even use 5G. My difference is I am conditioned for this type of battery life. Came from the Xs.

Yeah, I am not impressed by the battery life. I cannot compare to 11, but nothing spectacular. It is the same as the iPhone 8 I have for 2 years already. Battery life would not be something I will brag about on the iPhone 12 Pro to be honest.

I really feel the 12 are comprised. Older gen modem, next generation will have smaller integrated Qualcomm 5g model which will lead to bigger batteries and more efficiencies. One or a few reason why the max 12 was returned and I got a mini. Though I’m sticking with the mini for the near future.

This is the price you pay for being the first testers from Apple with 5G. It’s widely known from the number of video reviews that the 12’s doesn’t quite last as long as the 11’s. I’ve heard that turning off 5G in settings and just use LTE will give you better battery life.

For sure this would help but just wanted to say that I do not use 5G (my provider does not offer 5G) so it is 4G for me and the battery is still not that impressive.

Customer: “we want better battery life!”

Apple: “Try our new iPhone 11!”

Customer: “wow! This is amazing. Thank you!”

Apple: “Hey, it’s been a year. We reduced the battery so you can have 5G!”

Customer: “But i still want long battery life.”

Apple: “but we don’t think you need it.”

Customer: “well you’re wrong and that’s disappointing”

Apple: “maybe next time. Just buy the damn 12 and deal with it for now or keep your stupid, old 11. Greedy jerks”

Customer: “You call me greedy? I just want decent battery life and you took it away!”

Apple: “but 5G?!”

Spectator: “this escalated quickly”

Sorry to hear, you may want to watch some videos on how to adjust our settings to get the most battery life.

I actually watched this one and it even helped me on my 6s to get a little more battery.

Yeah the battery life is a big reason why I sent the iPhone 12 back and got the Pro Max. I'm used to big screens because of my 11PM but decided to try out a smaller one. The first few days that I had the 12, I could just see the battery going down constantly and I'm a heavy user. I would've gotten just the Pro but after hearing it has the same battery as the regular 12, no way was I going to exchange it for that one.

Thanks! I will check it out!

Cringy...

Sure. Feel like I should get a lot more screen on time than this.

Does the breakdown per app give you any more clues maybe if you compare the current vs 10 day average?

I've been having issues with this too on my 12 Pro Max. I don't use the phone for several hours but when I pick it up, it says that my screen off time is 3min. This has been happening for the past few weeks. The screen on time isn't accurate as well. The longer that I'm using the phone that day, it actually decreases...

I agree the battery life is underwhelming on the 12 pro. Even after a year of use, my 11 pro was still getting better battery life. It was the main the reason I switched to the 12 pro max, in the end.
