How long are you guys getting out of your battery? I was mostly just using the Internet and only got 4 hours. Is that common?

im getting a good six on just about every charge:]
heavy internet browsing, itunes, click to flash installed, and a garageband session every now and again. i love this machine!
i have the 13''

I have a 13" ultimate.

With only itunes, wifi, outlook, and word, I get around 3-4 hours of usage. That's with 100% brightness.

Apparently Apple's claim of 7 hours is only on 50% or 75% brightness, but I forgot which.

i have the 13 ultimate and with heavy browsing and flash installed i get about 4h30

If i put the brightness down to 75 % i get about 5h20 with heavy browsing and downloading.

My Batterie after 12 cycles is at 97% health is that normal?

How often do you guys calibrate or don t we have to with the new batteries.

Does anyone know how many cycles a batterie of the new macbook air should last?

50% with minimal settings I believe.

When I plug my 13" Air to my 42" full HD TV, and watch a 120min Full HD MKV movie with VLC, there is around 50% battery left afterwards. That's pretty good to me!
When watching other, smaller, 720p movies it uses around 25/30% per movie.

and the guys with the 11 inch ones, do you really get 5 hours ?

Just all depends on what I'm doing. Just surfing the net, doing some Office work, then yes I do. If I start blasting videos, downloading stuff and installing apps, then 5 hours is a pipedream.

If the MBA had the iPad's battery life, this would truly be my dream machine.

How much time you get on a charge varies greatly, depending on what you have running. Screen brightness is a big factor. Other factors include WiFi, bluetooth, widgets on your dashboard, background processes, apps you have open, Flash on websites, etc. It's not realistic to expect to achieve the advertised durations in the real world, since there are so many contributing factors.

11.6/4/128 here

Safari, iTunes, and light Lightroom use with 2-6 bars brightness gets me over 5 hours still, which is great for cross country flights.

Skype will get me barely over 3 hours fullscreen, half brightness.

Netflix will get me 2-2.5 hours streaming HD, quarter brightness.

quarter brightness ? lool :p that isreally dark :p

Depending on which tasks I'm performing, but usually 4 hours if I play or watch some movies. Web surfing with not too much flash plus sparrow (mail), powerpoint, word with bluetooth off and brightness set at 50% I can get almost 7 hours.

I'm seeing about 5 hours in OSX, but only about 4 hours in Win 7 doing the same sorts of things. Not sure what explains the disparity, but it's there.

Once I start 3D gaming in Win 7...well, it's damn well time to plug in.

lol none if you are saying you are using the 11 or 13 inch ...

In a dark enough room, even 1 bar is plenty. But usually, I'm running in the 50-66% range.

I've got a 13". I get about 7-7.5 at about 70% brightness. That is usually a 50 minute typing session followed by 10 minutes browsing between classes. Gets me through a whole day without having to worry about carrying the charger or finding an outlet.

I must say some people are really paranoid about this whole battery thing. Overall, I believe the batteries are fine, seriously...

How many hours you get depends on a lot of various parameters when you use your computer. Brightness, the type of work/program running, etc.

I put my computer to sleep right after it was fully charged. After 4 days, it has 87% left, so it's about right that it can last 30 days of sleep.

You should be able to get about 1000 cycles before it's at 80% of it's health.

So, if you get 6 hours today, you'll get 4.8 after 1000 cycles.

That's not necessarily true. Battery health varies greatly, depending on how a battery is cared for. Also, the time you get on a charge varies greatly, depending on how your Mac is configured and what you have running at any given time.
