for the past 2 weeks i've noticed my battery life not lasting nearly as long as it used to.

it used to last well over 4 hours, now it barely lasts an hour not plugged in.

i bought the computer exactly 1 year ago today.

anyone heard of this before? know what to do? please help.

It's naturally going to loose life like that. I'm not sure the average rate of decline, but you can't expect it to perform top notch all it's life. The number of times you charge it, etc. all play factors in how long it lasts.

I think your battery should last considerably longer than barely an hour. Check http://www.apple.com/support/macbook_macbookpro/batteryupdate/ then decide if your battery fits the description of "faulty".

So am I correct in assuming that if I extend applecare for 3 years, Apple will replace the battery anytime during those 3 years if the health drops too low.

well i went to go purchase the applecare on the EXACT one year anniversary i bought the mac.

    guess what apple told me?

that the 1 year ended the day before because the day i bought it counted as day 1 so i had 364 days from that day. they really screwed me here.

now i have a battery that lasts about an hour fully charged.

and i downloaded the battery update and it wont install after i restart lol.

    man im screwed.

Absolutely not. The battery is not covered under the extended warranty. It is not even covered under the one year warranty. The battery will decline over time. The only way you will get a new battery out of Apple is if the battery completely fails and causes your computer not to run or something like that. If the battery just does not hold as long of a charge as it used to.... it is not covered.

How did Apple screw you? They did not force you to wait 364 days to try to get the extended warranty, you did that on your own. Even if they sold you the warranty, it does not cover the battery.

Your not screwed. Go buy another battery. It is not as if the computer does not work. You just need another battery.
