I just ordered an M2 MBA (midnight blue). I know I will sometimes want to use a mouse with it, and I have a battery Magic Mouse that came with the iMac I'm replacing (Late 2012 21.5"). Will I be able to use the mouse with the MBA? Thanks for your help!

I was just going to recycle the iMac, but I'm wondering if it's worth selling? It works, but the OS is upgraded as much as it can be and it's soooo slow. Advice welcome.

Totally worth selling depending on the specs. OpenCoreLegacyPatcher supports this model on Ventura, so with a little installation trickery, it can run the current macOS, albeit not all features will work. Also not everyone needs the latest. I have a 2009 iMac, it plods along on Monterey as a bare-bones media server, but I could easily use it for High Sierra or Mojave if I wanted a system to run 32bit Mac apps on. In my area these machines still sell for about $200-400 depending on specs and condition (that's in CDN though).

A really great site with some more info on these machines: EveryMac Tapered Aluminum iMacs

Best of luck with it!

Mouse will work fine with the MBA.
Sell the iMAC - better to make a little out of it rather then nothing.

Thank you, everyone! Once I get the MBA set up and everything transferred, I will look into selling the iMac.

I have a battery operated MM that works well with all of the various Macs around my house (all later vintages than the iMac it came with).

As for selling your old machine, I'd say it depends on how much value you put on your time. Somebody who charges clients, say, $100/hour or earns that amount wouldn't want to spend more than 4 hours or so selling a Mac that can bring in 400 bucks.

Yes, I agree. However, I will want to get rid of it one way or another, so if I can make a few bucks, that will be nice. Otherwise, I will recycle it or maybe see if anyone local wants it. Thanks!

You might also be able to claim a tax deduction if you donate to a registered charity.
