Pretty sure this didn't happen with my 2016 TB MBP, but with my new 2018 TB MBP, Coconut Battery seems to be telling me the battery is never at 100%. It often sits at around 98-99% when plugged in, and even when the CB menu bar icon says 100%, clicking it to see the exact figure shows 99.8% or similar.

Not worried about it, but can anyone confirm the same?

Is the charge above the design capacity? Mine is showing 98.5% charged but this value is above the design capacity. This is on a 2018 TB 13" MBP

Yeah, it is. I was wondering if that might be the reason. Seems logical, I guess.

I\ve noticed different % on login (98-99) and in OS. Strange behaviour, but I think it is software bug, not hardware?

These percentages are estimates made by sensors associated the battery management system in the devices. They are effected by a number of factors including temperatures, current draw, etc.

I drive a Tesla and have always been amazed that sometimes charging stops at 90% (what I set charging to stop at in day-to-day charging) sometimes 91%, and sometime 89%. But when you drive the same amount you end up with the same remaining charge. So my advice is to not worry about the precise reading. In the end it is just an estimate.

I believe it's not a problem with new battery, but old batteries and bad controllers has the same symptoms.

Completely normal. iPhones will cycle (while reporting 100%) between 95% and 100%. Macbooks, on the other hand, can run purely off of AC power, thus may stop anywhere after 95%? and 100% if left plugged in for long periods of time. I am running my MBP 13' 2017 off of a 30W Anker power supply so I see my % varying around from 94-100% often and other times just sitting at not charging. Much healthier for the battery this way. The battery management chips are working hard to help keep your battery healthy.

Not sure what you are saying. Are some words missing from your comment.

My comment was to point out the percentage is just an estimate and not to get too hung up on the number.
