Was seeing dreadful battery usage throughout the betas on my 6s plus. Last night I noticed a huge improvement, just checked it again and got this.

My 7 Plus suffered a one hour battery life hit. I'm back on 10.3.3

Getting very good battery life with 11GM... First day always takes a hit with re-indexing Spotlight, etc, but been using my 7+ since 6am, 12 hrs later still at 84%

Have you gone through all betas and updated to GM without restoring as new? That might be your problem right there.

Never mind...I’m an idiot.

Two installed apps were using almost 50% of battery on background refresh and location services. Not sure how I let that slip by but, it’s been corrected.

If this is the case, its usually settings reset only. Rec that first, as entire data reset or restore as new (same thing) isnt always easy for the user, EX: myself, i have texts & other data I need, that restore as new deletes with no exception.

I have never been fortunate enough that a reset all settings fixes the issue. It’s always a restore that is required.

This sounds great

I wonder if it's something to do with possibly being the first full implementation of APFS. That switch could have easily had instant results way back, if at all..

Full blown restore via iTunes or restore reset all data via iOS without iTunes?

Know u, seen ur posts etc, ur one of the better ones around here so im just asking based on ur experiences, not calling u wrong or anything.

iTunes restore. Whenever I have a corruption issue on my device, I like to fully reinstall the OS. Especially after playing with betas. Jut erasing all settings and contents doesn’t fully reinstall the OS. So even if one byte of data is corrupt in the install, it will carry over.

Battery drain here and there I will live with. But when I get massive stuttering or lagging system wide and resetting all settings doesn’t fix it. It’s time to start fresh. I don’t really mind as I don’t care about messages as I have them on my Mac. All I care about is health and finally it’s no longer tied to a backup.

Now that i think about it, im still using my original first smartphone backup, which was a iPhone 3GS, its still working somehow, though dozens of betas & all, here i am on a 7+, not even was affected by the storage beta issue.

That’s insanely impressive. I’ve had many issues since the iPhone 3G.

Good thought, but APFS was fully inplemented in iOS 10.

Pretty sure the GM OTA update you get as a beta user is the full image and no delta update. Otherwise I can‘t explain the 1,5GB size of the download.

A restore is then merely a settings reset.

What's with all the talk about having an hour less than iOS 10? I'd love to upgrade, just worried about the battery life.

I also am seeing reduced battery life on iOS 11 on my iPhone 7 and have throughout the beta period as well. Not drastically worse, maybe 1-2 hours less than iOS 10, but still noticeable.

11 GM isn’t good so far on my 5s. The battery on it is pretty bad. Picture is from this morning. And it gets hot doing very menial tasks such as launching apps, web browsing or texting. Although I’m very surprised to see it runs only a little slower than 10.3.3.

I updated yesterday night. I’m hoping this overheating and battery issue gets better. I’ll see what happens by Monday. If anything I’ll just go back to 10.3.3 and wait for 11.1.
