Does a battery pack for the imac not exist? I want to take it outside when it's good weather.. I'm sure there is a market for this kind of thing?

You could look for UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems, as the iMac and any other device that needs electric power come with a power cord, that fit into such a device.
You could also look for just battery packs, that offer 300 Watt output, with a plug for electric devices.

a UPS is only designed to keep the system running long enough for you to shut it down safely. The iMac screen draws too much power for a battery. If you want to use a computer outside buy a laptop.
I agree, you would ruin an UPS the first time you used it. They aren't meant to be deep discharged only meant to hold power for short periods of time.
This is rechargeable and would run your IMac for a few hours between charges without damage. Or you can just build your own like I did with a couple of deep cycle batteries and a DC/AC converter.

My word. $250 and it weighs over 50 pounds. Wouldn't it be easier to just get a macbook? I'm pretty sure the OP was hoping for something about the size of a book.
not going to happen, unless it's for about 2 minutes of runtime. I use mine for camping.
