If I run my macbook from the battery which is very rarely, the computer just turns itself off at about 19% battery life, it does not warn me, it just shuts down.

I can recharge it, and then use the battery again, but it does the same thing everytime.

I use the power connectory 99.9%, I normally only use the battery when recalibrating it.

Please help. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Try calibrating your battery going with Apple's directions for doing so, found here.

Also make sure you have the latest battery update installed, if neither solve your problem try ringing apple, you may be eligible for a replacement.

I ran it down last night and it got to 15% and it shutdown, I did not attempt to recharge it. I took the battery out to add two 1Gb memory sticks today and when I put the battery back and turned on the computer it showed it to be charged to only 3 %

I should have said I had previously removed the battery just before it started showing these symptoms, to see how to add memory.

Does anybody know why this has occurred?

Most likely it needs calibrating which is why it's showing the incorrect amount of charge. Try calibrating it and see if it behaves better. :)
