Ok so we've had our new MBP since christmas and, whilst I think we're using the battery properly, I've got a few questions I would be grateful for your answers to.

- Generally, we've been letting the battery run down to around 10 percent before we plug in the power. If, at this point we've finished using the MBP for the day we will shut down rather than sleep mode. Is this ok and best practice?

- In terms of charging, is it ok to say leave the charger connected over night to fully charge the MBP? Will the charger cut out once full power has been reached? I noticed that the charger gets fairly warm whilst charging. Don't want it to overheat!

When we're using the MBP, it's obviously more convenient to use it without connecting up the charger.

- When using the MBP on battery, when we've finished using it, it's not usually at full charge - we don't use it for long enough periods of time to fully charge it in one go. Hence the question above about leaving it on over night.

Thanks in advance!

Not necessary.... you can plug in anytime you want.

Either is fine. Many Mac users run for months at a time without ever shutting down or restarting. Sleep is fine.

Yes.

Yes.
I noticed that the charger gets fairly warm whilst charging.
That's normal.
Don't want it to overheat!
It won't.

This should answer most, if not all, of your battery questions:

You're perfectly fine with what you are doing. You can charge the laptop whenever you want, you can leave it plugged in over night.

There is no need to let the battery run down to 10%. When you finish using it and you are at say 50%, it's perfectly fine to hook it up to the charger so it's full the next morning.

Shut off or sleep is your choice... I prefer sleep because it saves time ;)
