I have a month old iPhone X and my phone refuses to charge while being used with any variety of chargers being used. Use the iPad one , the OG one one I got from T-Mobile and even my usb c to lightning one with my MacBook. It’s on 80% for the last 2 hours now since I starting using it. Been happening for the past few days now

Try resetting all settings. If that doesn't work, set up as new. If the behavior continues, you need to take the phone to Apple, as what you described is not normal behavior, provided that your other electronics are working and charging normally.

I have 2 iPhone X, and often use them while I am charging. They always charge albeit it a little slower since they are being used.

I understand slower but hours at the same ? I’ve streamed music for 5 hours plugged in and it stayed around 40% which was when I plugged it in.

I was as 80% around 8 pm and now at 83% at 10:54 pm and that’s partly because I wasn’t using the phone

under settings\battery, what does it say is using the battery? Does it seem correct?
[doublepost=1530501330][/doublepost]Also, try restarting it.

Says it’s discharging so I guess it’s an OS issue.

Restart it.

Then connect to MacBook. Then connect elsewhere. Then change the cable. Leave it for 30 minutes at each step.

What would this achieve?! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Closingracer -

Generally, it doesn’t matter what you do while the phone is connected to a charger, it should charge the device faster than whatever it is that’s depleting the battery.

Given the issues you’ve seen with the battery recently, if you can demonstrate this at the Apple Store, I’d highly recommend to take it to them and show the issue.

If my phone lasts until my appointment sure. At 59% on a phone that is like new now OS wise. Trying to replicate the issue now and so far it’s the same. Won’t charge and at times is losing charge slightly while plugged in

That won’t do anything ....

It’s discharfing at 2.43 watts atm according to coconut.

I noticed this on my X too from time to time but in my case it was just a reporting error (I'm on iOS 12 beta). When it did this last week it was staying at 80% for awhile so I rebooted the phone and it was near 100%.

Are you using your phone while charging? phone temp. reads 40.3 celsius.

Yes which is the problem itself. Went there and they said I just needed to do a fresh re install of the OS. Didn’t realize I could just do it on my computer

Ok it seems my issue isn’t solved. Their diagnostics said it’s fine and everything went fine at the store but now it has happened again once it reach to 80% . I think the problem is the 80%. This is really annoying since it took me over two hours to get to the Apple store and now I have to go back there again.

I don’t see it as an excuse. They’re simply asking you a question. Just explain the situation. Apple has always been awesome in terms of customer service.

How is that an excuse? Your phone was at 40 Celsius. That is very warm. Anything over 38F triggers the phone to go into "overheating" mode, which will limit the device from charging and dim the screen. Put your phone down and let it cool off. Its that simple.

Oh, and just because you told me to bet on your battery being defective. I see that you went to the Apple store and it passed, therefore, not a lemon that you told me to bank on.

The only advice that I have for you is to study and research how batteries actually work, then you won't need to get so worked up over your batteries.

I won’t say excellent at all. Good but still giving me the run around

It could be anywhere. It happened to be at 40° that time. Unless using safari to do the chat makes it 40° then the phone still has a problem. I quite understand how battery’s work and this one has been a dud since the start

Apple is rated the highest in the world when it comes to customer service. This is not really giving you the run around to be honest.

Still not the best. Can’t be every time. Heck I had good experiences with Sprint a few times
