I want to ask you about this crazy stuff. You know, I was trying to replace my old battery with a new one, I've cuted a cables from old one, connected to the new one and it was working good. I've charged it. Then I wanted to solder it to mobo, and... he's gone. The iPod doesn't give any sign of life.

And my question is - does iPod should give ANY sign of life without battery?

Without the It should not give any sign of life. But neither is it bricked. "bricking" is usually associated with a fatal software failure.
