has anyone replaced his/her battery in a 2013" rMPB 13"? when a replacement battery is performed by Apple, is a brand new (or refurbished) top case/upper case assembly installed on top of the old machine? or is the old battery simply unglued from the original case and a new one put in its existing place?

from what i see at ifixit, the upper case assembly includes the keyboard, trackpad, and battery all attached to the top case. and other threads may suggests that the whole top case assembly is swapped.

i had a minor accident earlier this week that caused some warping of the top case. it seems to be a difficult repair and parts alone would cost $250 for the top case assembly by itself (not including battery, trackpad, and keyboard). if the upper case is indeed replaced, for $200, i could get a new battery and upper case.

if doing a repair, how long would turn around time be if taken to an apple store? should i be concerned about data security for files on my existing ssd (i use filevault and has a password protected account)?

thanks.
