So I purchased an 8 and sent my 6 in for battery replacement (will make a heck of a Christmas gift for my son). It arrived on the 28th. Last night just after midnight I got an email saying it was done and here is your tracking number. I had heard 2-3 weeks lead time to get the battery replaced. They did it in under 12 hours? Or is that SOP to send an email saying it is done with a tracking number that wont ship for 2-3 weeks?

Tracking number still has no activity beyond "Label Printed."

I think that Apple usually gives a very conservative time, so you are less likely to contact the repair center. Someone who was nervous about the "2-3 weeks" estimate will be pleased when the job only takes less than 30 minutes. That allows for "surges" at the repair center, and it's also likely that the last actual surge, when the iP6 was having a lot of battery replacements, and the repair center was probably mobbed for a few weeks, has probably settled down by now, and a more normal, actual return time would be 5 to 7 days, at the most.

It takes a few hours before a tracking number would be updated for your iPhone for the return shipping.
Good luck!

The longer wait times had been associated with the 6 Plus not the 6. I think at this time Apple is on to of the iPhone 6 battery supply and is nearly caught up with the 6 Plus supply.

I guess it may depend on where you are. I just had an iPhone 6 battery replaced on Monday in South America. They did it in about 20 minutes, while I waited.

Well I’m in Indiana, it went to California (2000ish miles) and back in 2 days and was fixed when it returned.
