Have a notification that pops up when it’s time. When your iPhone hits 85% health it should have a pop up where they then show the battery Health, before that it must stay hidden.

I think Apple won’t touch them if the health is above 80%. Which makes sense.

Yep. I say 85% because it would make the user aware that the battery is going to need a replacement soon, kind of like when your car tells you that a service is due in xxxxKM/Miles.

Oh got you, thanks for the explanation. Nice idea!

Hi guys, thanks you all for the answer.

I know it's not really a problem, but a really picky guy (damn), so this thing is bothering me, especialluy because the most of the device (12/12P/12PM) are still at 100% even when older than mine.

I checked via coconut and yes, it's around 98.9.

Mine is still at 100% at the moment and I’ve had it since launch. I’m a heavy user but I never leave my phone charging overnight. Just prefer not to. I always charge it before I go to bed and unplug it right when I’m about to sleep, whether or not it reaches 100% charged. My battery lasts me the entire day anyway so I’m not worried about it. I only charge it once a day and it’s always before bed. Every persons usage is different and that could or could not affect the battery

Hi all, i just found that my 12PM has decreased to 99% after just a 1,5 month of use and 27 cycle.
I charge it overnight with optimized option and a 5w charger.
I went below 20% yesterday for the very first time and this morning it's 99%. Is there a connection?
Average use last week: 7h

It's not normal to me.

What do you think?

Thanks
my 12 pro max decrease the bettery so quickly, have to charge it once every 2 days even I didn't use it a lot

I wouldn't worry about it. Track it over time. I've used coconutBattery since my iPhone 6+. My 6s+ came 96% from the factory, and stayed that way for almost 2 years. Some phones I've had come 110% from the factory, and they dropped quite a bit after almost 2 years of usage. My last 2 phones were barely over 100% and dropped a few % after a year.

I like to run mine down to 0% then fully charge in the evening, I’m not a not a heavy user so that’s every 3 days approx 😁👍

Three days is good but that’s a lot of additional stress on your battery. I’d charge at 20%. Batteries are happier at 40-80% if you can do that.

Definitely not something I would recommend doing with lithium ion batteries, you will end up putting more stress on the battery if you fully charge it and drain it to 0 every day. Very bad for the battery tbh.

I'm legit confused. my iPhone 12 Pro (Barely 4 months old) is saying its down to 97%. I rarely even get the battery down to 60% a day.

Not to worry unless you see a continuous 1% drop every week or two
It’s only a guide it’s not a hard number

I am convinced that if you are trying to not use your battery, apple's battery health code actually reduces its max charge and as a result, indicates reduced health.

Why do I think this?

My 2020 MacBook Air is at 85% after 82 cycles, but has stabilised there.

Basically: use the battery as you require, and stop trying to out-smart the in-built battery management.

It is good to follow the main advices: don't go below 20%, use optimized charging, try not to leave it at 100% too long, don't charge during heavy use, and ideally, use the 5W power brick.

However, you buy an iPhone to use it, not so you have a battery to take care of. So the first rule is: use your iPhone the way you want to.

If your battery health drops below 80% during the first year (very unlikely), use your warranty to get a new one.

If your battery only drops below 80% later on, either learn to live with a smaller battery, , spend $69 on a new battery, or sell it and get a new iPhone.

For comparison, my iPhone 7 Plus is now at exactly 80%, after 4.5 years of intensive use. 80% is still absolutely fine for me. So it's a non-issue really. Also, the battery of an iPhone 12 Pro Max is massive, so at 80% it will still be a huge battery.

I have a launch day iPhone 12 PM and its battery health is still at 100%.

I always use a 5W wireless charger and charge overnight, that’s why the battery health is still at maximum after four months of heavy use.

I went below 20% yesterday for the very first time and this morning it's 99%. Is there a connection?
Nope.

Here are the few basic rules:

• Keep the cells moving - whether that's using the device (i.e. discharging the battery) or charging
• Store a battery at 50% - if the battery charge will not be changing for awhile, try to leave/keep the level as close to 50% as possible.
• Avoid extreme ambient temperatures
Apple said:
Your device is designed to perform well in a wide range of ambient temperatures, with 62° to 72° F (16° to 22° C) as the ideal comfort zone. It’s especially important to avoid exposing your device to ambient temperatures higher than 95° F (35° C), which can permanently damage battery capacity. That is, your battery won’t power your device as long on a given charge. Charging the device in high ambient temperatures can damage it further. Software may limit charging above 80% when the recommended battery temperatures are exceeded. Even storing a battery in a hot environment can damage it irreversibly. When using your device in a very cold environment, you may notice a decrease in battery life, but this condition is temporary. Once the battery’s temperature returns to its normal operating range, its performance will return to normal as well.

Battery cells degrade as they age and are used. However, following the above recommendations will keep the degradation at a minimum (barring any defects).
