It all went wrong!

I did the update through Software update and restarted. It them locked with the grey screen and progress wheel. Left it for a while, but it just kept going.

Eventually, I took out the battery, pulled the power and restarted without the battery in. Once it was up and running, I went to System/Library/SystemConfguration and took the batterr updater out. [I had to 'Move to Trash' and them moved it from there.]

Restarted, all was fine.

I was stupid and didn't think that it should be plugged in during the update. It installed running on battery power. Do you think it's ok? Seems to be working fine.

Downloaded and installed. Battery went from something like 900mAh back up to 5000+. Before I'd get less than 30 mins on my Macbook Pro, now it's hovering around 3 hours as usual. Thank you, Apple.

this is for ALL 15" macbook pros. I have a June 2006 Core Duo model, and it showed up in my software update. It's a wonderful update.

hehehehehehahahahahaheheheheh

before: prev max 5500 current max 4572 current 4522
after: max 5601 current 5476

Like was said before - if it's real I'm happy.

Ok, did the battery update to my 15". Battery capacity went from 3668 to 5495. Too good to be true??? Did a battery calibration. Came back later to a kernel panic. After reboot, my capacity dropped to 2322. Hmmm. Only 24 load-cycles on this battery. I'll cycle through once more and see where things are at.

UPDATE: CoconutBattery showed a capacity back up to 5495 again. Cycled the battery again, and it will discharge 50% down and dies (goes to sleep). No warning at all. Now shows capacity of 1778. Time to take this baby in I guess... still under warranty.

Applied the update on my 15" MBP SR 2.2 through software update and noticed no difference in Coconut Battery. I then went to the http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305540 website and followed every instruction. I don't see the file batteryupdater.bundle when i perform a spotlight search or while searching finder. I manually downloaded the batteryupdater pkg and when run it says "This computer does not need this update"

Anyone have any advice? I would definitely appreciate the increased battery life from this update! :D

It looks as though results vary quite a bit. Here are my results...the window on the left is before, and on the right is after the update.

It is hard to tell from the posts if this has been good or bad - I guess I will be updating it anyway so I hope it helps!

Ok, I found it on my computer, I guess it just didn't really affect me...

Battery much WORSE after update!

Before the update I was getting about 3 hours of battery life. Immediately after the update, that went to 3:30.

Now, a couple days later, all I can get is 2 hours.

Any ideas? This happen to anyone else?

I had no issues with my battery prior to the update. I installed it and now my battery meter is cracked out, ranging from 3-6 hours (at full charge) without big differences in my activity:confused:. Another minor issue, my battery doesn't completely charge and now stays at 99%. A few days using it will let me know if the update affected my battery life.

Same here

I brought my 1 year old MacBook to Apple last weekend because my 70 cycle battery stopped holding charge (even with update 1.3). They happily replaced my battery, free of charge even though the Mac is out of warranty. I'm a happy man once again hehe

update sapped my battery

After running this update, my battery's capacity dropped by about half on my 2.16 core duo MBP. I went from getting over two hours of usage to just under one hour. I couldn't quite understand it and have cycled the battery a few times since, hoping it would correct itself.
I finally called Apple today and they are sending me a new battery.
My hat's off to Apple on this one.

same here..... 24 cycles and only 1800mAH.

this update is costing Apple a fair bit of money to replace all the batteries. very strange way of doing business.
