I know it's last year device, but I bought one couple of weeks ago, and my battery is very disappointing about 4.5-5 hours of usage (very light).
here is a picture of mine :

most of the time 3G(Full signal)
play fruit ninja for like 2 mins (real racing 3 is from the previous charge)
most features are disabled and auto brightness running IOS 8.1.1
Share your usage, so that i could see where my device is standing.
thanks.

I'll look at taking a screen shot of mine the next time it's been run down a bit.

I purchased a used 5s with 6 months left on Applecare. After moving from a 4s who's battery life was decimated after moving to ios7, I must say that my iOS 7.1.2, 64 gig 5s has outstanding battery life in comparison.

I am sure I am very biased by my 4s experience. So take that into advisement.

When I got mine iPhone i updated it to iOS 8.1.1 and the battery was pretty bad, but I didn't use the phone enough on iOS 7 too see any difference.

Well it's not that good.. I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 8.1.1 and get around 7 hours of usage. I would recommend you to check your battery with BackUpBot.

Already check that, the battery is good.

Well do you have a lot of background refreshing apps? Or try to restore ?

just one app in the background refreshing apps, and tried to restore couple of times on both ios 8.1 and 8.1.1.
the werid part is when I put it to play a movie the darin is as it should be, but when I actually touch the screen and use the device it's drain super quick(like 1% every 2mins) with a very light use.
