Hi all,
I'm helping out a friend who got a MacBook Pro on my recommendation, and now it's not working :(. Her battery icon at the top of the screen has an x on it and says there's no battery in the computer, even though there is. The battery doesn't appear to be charging, because she said yesterday it had a full charge and now not all the dots light up when it is pressed. I did the battery update for her, but no change.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

first, make sure the battery update was actually installed.

if the battery update didn't fix it, call Apple to get a replacement.

Replace what, the battery or the computer? I'm not sure which one is broken. The battery still gives a readout (on the actually battery itself, the little lights that glow) and seems ok. How do I know if the battery is faulty or if the computer is without a spare to test?
