Is it just me or does it look like there are four pretty large areas either side of both batteries that are empty space?! Why not make the batteries a big bigger for much long battery life. I suppose it would be heavier but I'm sure most people would be fine with that. I am curious to watch the tear downs reveal.

I'll probably not be getting one, (unless work buys me it) just saw the picture on the front page and was curious.

I saw this too. Either that space is reserve for something on the display, heat dissipation, or Apple wanted to keep the weight down by not having a bigger battery.

Also Apple use 10 hour battery life on iPads as a constraint and then define the rest of the specs (thinness, weight and now volume) based on that
