With proper power cycling the battery should last quite a while. I have two for my MBP since 04/07 and they both are still at around 97% health.

When it needs it. My last battery lasted around 4 months, but Apple Care replaced it. Otherwise I just use it until the battery meter doesn't work properly, and then I know it's time for a new battery. Usually that's over a year (or two) though.

My battery was just about completely dead 8 months in and Apple replaced it. 4 months after that it was dead again.

Now, my battery is really bad and lasting barely an hour & half without charges.

I am thinking of a new battery in another 3 months

Didn't vote because the 'never' option wasn't there. I've never kept a computer long enough to warrant a battery upgrade.
