My Momentus XT is getting a little cramped, 500GB is too small for me.
I decided to jump the gun and get a 1TB 9.5mm. It's a 5,400RPM, so it uses less power than 7,200RPM drives but is so dense that it performs just as well. Win-win!

There's 2 hard drives on the market right now: the Spinpoint and the Scorpio Blue. Benchmarks show very similar performance, with the Spinpoint having lower power consumption.

But no one ever bothered with reliability. It's a major factor; after all, it's a mechanical drive.

Does anyone have experience with either of these drives? How are the warranties? Are they reliable?

Both have three year warranties. No hard drive is really reliable than the other, they can all fail at anytime. That being said, I haven't heard any major issues with either one, so reliability is a moot point. The Samsung is over $40 cheaper though.
