Battlefield 2142 v1.5 Update for mac?

hey ive just downloaded this patch and it gives me a message when i try to apply the patch to the game saying "cannot appy patch please reinstall" and i was wondering if you guys had any insight on whether it wants me to reinstal the game or the patch? i am dumbfounded 😕

In the windows version (the one I have) you can add wide screen support by putting it in the command line of the shortcut you use to launch teh game. I've been using widescreen forever. I doubt you can do this with OS X though since OS X doesnt have command line functions for launching apps from what I can see :/


Is this game good on OS X? I always read it was a p.o.s. that didnt run well. Is it worth me rebuying to play in OS X?


(Edit) Also, does it require the DVD in the drive to play? If so that will be a deal breaker for me. In Windows it does... but usually there are no-cds to get around that.

Well since the new patch supports it (both win and os x) it doesn't matter anymore but you CAN do it before by editing the config file with

[AppDefaults\\BF2142.exe\\transgaming]
"cmdlineadd" = "+widescreen 1 +szx 1344 +szy 840"

It's not that bad on the OS X side provided the patches are up to date.

Unfortunately yes you do have to play with the DVD. Some other games can use no-cd cracks by going into the app and replacing the exe (provided they are CIDER wrapped). Not all will do this but some do.

Even with the update (im seeing loads of servers in the listing, so i know it has been applied) im not seeing any widescreen resolutions in the Video menu.

edit - okay looking at old posts on here i see it originally had problems with AluMacs. Please dont tell me it still does.... 🙄

Nope, it now shows the same resolutions on my iMac (listed in sig) that I have in System Preferences, so I know it's working.

Finally DICE you guys got us hooked up.

Dark Inside of Titan

I am having the same issue with the Titan being blacked out inside (except for doors). This makes it impossible to navigate, thus pointless to assault the Titan. I have the 1.50 patch running on iMac 2.66 Ghz 2GB RAM. Also, the game is a bit skippy when targeting enemies.

I went out and bought BF2142 for mac, installed it, DLed and installed the 1.5 patch, and it runs ok, I think I need to turn down the graphics settings some bc its a little jumpy.

The problem is when I exit out of the game and go to relaunch it, nothing happens. The game does not launch, the only thing I can do to get it to start up again is to restart the system. Have any of you had this problem, how did you fix it? Should I try to reinstall the game and patch? Should I have installed 1.4 then 1.5?

I sent an email to EA about the problem, but I don't expect much from them, from yalls comments in this post, they could careless about some poor mac users BF problems 🙁
(they probably will email back and say to use bootcamp and the windows version 🙂 )

Time Traveler Wants to Play BF2142

I feel like a time-traveler. I was a huge fan of BF1942 years-ago on PC. I bought a MBP17"(2010) a month ago, and also bought bf1942, which runs great on the Mac. I also just bought BF2142, and after registration, it wont even launch. I have the original disc inserted, and even patched the game to 1.5, but it still won't launch. All I see is the logo appear, bounce once & disappear.

Any advice? Thanks!
